Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to upgrade your gear without relying upon big-ticket drops or trade. This article will help you understand how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus is based on the upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons stronger. They can be found through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in items-spheres. You can also salvage them from equipment that contains the components, or by utilizing high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed when you remove them from the item.

Upgrade components are mostly used to upgrade an item upgrades but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be used to increase the quality of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to enhance the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be made for additional bonuses. For example, a designed glyph will increase the chance of upgrading its target, while a boost upgrade will boost the defense or attack quality of a weapon or armor.

Sets

A set is a collection of items that have bonuses. Each item can be upgraded at the minimum once. The upgrade will increase the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. When you first upgrade an item, its primary stat will be +1.
