Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with bases that are strong, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the necessary element or material required to complete the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of item names. For example adding a Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

When an item is finished being leveled, it will be able to receive a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade item will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item upgrade's base type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials however it will have lower chances of success.

Engineers may use a level in order to measure the height of the building with an established point, such as the benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with a high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game, and it can improve an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item upgrades or an item of the same type. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the Best item upgrade.

In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added over the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.

The game also features several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on an item. This is a great method to add lots of power to a particular character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character quicker, which enables you to progress in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the character screen. It will show the item's attributes, along with the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also increase the defense of armor with an updated look.
