WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade items your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item upgrader mod level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They are purchased by players through Item level upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item upgrader mod. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item upgrader kit level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they are part of another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
